December 22nd, 2009

this is the story of a girl.

I’m not vain, I swear. I just want you to know who I am. So I put together a mix of all my favourite music, or at least the stuff that I feel illustrates my character effectively. A lot of people will hate it, but luckily for me, a lot of people aren’t going to read it. Or download it. So why don’t you take a shot and browse my seventeen-track memix?

Feeling Good – Michael Bublé

Scent of the pine, And I know how I feel

It’s a new dawn, It’s a new day

It’s a new life, For me

I Love Rock N’ Roll - Joan Jet & the Blackhearts

I saw him there by the record machine

He must have been about seventeen

The beat was going strong, playing my favourite song

Spotlight – Mutemath

And when you feel the war cannot be won

You’re gonna die to try what can’t be done

Man in the Mirror – James Morrison (cover)

You know the lyrics. A wonderful cover.

Old Stone – Laura Marling

And honey, I was never gonna change

And honey, you were never gonna change

Don’t you love, but don’t you love it that way?

Rabbit Heart (Raise it up) – Florence + The Machine

And Midas is king and he holds me so tight

And turns me to gold in the sunlight

John Wayne Gacy Jr. – Sufjan Stevens

I’m not a freak. It’s the most beautiful song

About a serial killer that I’ve ever heard.

Poker Face – Lady GaGa

I think you know the lyrics.

Pain – Jimmy Eat World

Anyone can make what I have built

Better now, anyone can make the take the same white pills

Natalie’s Rap – the Lonely Island

LOLGASM. I’m a huge Natalie Portman fan, too. She’s just one of those remarkable women.

O, Saya – A. R. Rehman feat. MIA

Oscar nominated song, mostly instrumental

Dream on – Aerosmith

Dream until your dreams come true

Dream until your dream comes through.

Kissing You (Romeo + Juliet Theme) – Craig Armstrong

Another instrumental; a very pretty song.

To Roam – Robert Pattinson

You’d know, you’d know it; you’d know where my eyes roam

Through the fog and hail, a scene amidst the snow

Teeth – Lady GaGa

I promised that I wouldn’t put an artist on this list twice,

But this song is just so different: I love it. (It’s fierce.)

Numb/Encore – Linkin Park feat. Jay-Z

I’ve become so numb, I can’t feel you there

Become so tired – so much more awake

I’m becoming this, all I want to do

Is be more like me, and be less like you.

Break – The Cinematics

I like my loneliness

And the thoughts it brings

The darkness can sometimes be a

Pleasure to me.

All the songs can be found here:

stopping by the woods on a snowy evening.

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer

To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.

The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
